AWANA
Welcome to AWANA at Bethlehem Community Church
Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed (2 Timothy 3:15)
- Purpose
- Awana is fun – with the purpose to teach children the gospel of Christ, to train them to serve Him, and to hide God’s Word in their hearts through Scripture memorization.
- Goals
- To give children a clear, consistent presentation of the Gospel. To offer to the children and adults: Bible memory- our cornerstone, Circle games exclusive to AWANA. A fun approach to learning God’s Word, Leadership training that is second to none. Evangelism focused to reach un-churched youth and their families.
- Clubs
- Each club has a Bible-centered handbook and activities that help children begin to build a solid understanding of the basics of Christianity at an early age.
Cubbies: pre-school age 3&4 year olds. We teach through fun games, puppets, crafts, songs and awards. After two years they will have learned approximately 55 memory verses!
Sparks: kindergarten – 2nd grade, takes children a step deeper into God’s Word with Bible teaching, worship, award presentations, the Gospel message, small group interaction and completion of Bible based lessons, and age appropriate games in the AWANA game circle. In three years they will learn and review 68 verses, many of which cover salvation and key Christian doctrine.
T&T: Truth and Training: 3rd grade-6th grade, focuses on evangelism and discipleship. Children are taught that life’s ultimate adventure is a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. They learn to apply the truths of Scripture to their daily lives and by the time of completion will have learned and reviewed 310 verses! - Ministry Opportunities
- Volunteers: A 2 ½ hrs a week time commitment of consecutive weeks is greatly appreciated where relationships with the children can be built. Arrangements can be made to accommodate schedules.
Directors: one needed for each club: Cubbies, Sparks, and T & T Clubs. I will oversee each club. Need organizational skills/record keeping. Able to guide, direct and delegate to other volunteer leaders.
Leaders: one for every 3-5 children, a caring, committed volunteer to nurture the children spiritually as Christian role models and teachers.
