Our focus, as the Board of Trustees, is to continually strive to improve, expand, maintain, and anticipate. This is seldom an easy task. Last year, to match the growth of our church, the Board of Trustees expanded to 7.

Each year it seems our board assumes a new “personality.” It is interesting and sometimes comical how each of us brings a perspective to the Board. Then, through God’s grace, we humbly and prayerfully attempt to the best of our abilities to serve this congregation, our community, and of course, our precious Lord and Savior.

To streamline our transition last year, we eliminated the policy of “co” trustees – that meaning the trustees who were “co-responsible” for an aspect of our duties. This practice often became detrimental to progress as duplication of efforts to accomplish a task was not uncommon. When establishing our individual areas of responsibility during this past year, each Trustee became the “final word” on their assigned task. This is not to say they had unlimited, unilateral decision making powers, but rather to state that we would respect each others’ “territory.” For example: If a member were to request something of the “Inside Trustee” that pertained to the outside grounds, the Trustee would either forward that individual to the correct Trustee, or contact that Trustee himself for consultation.

This procedure not only helped us to operate more efficiently, but also fostered a better line of communication between us, BCC’s leadership, and this congregation. This was also applauded as relieving some of the confusion expressed regarding “Which Trustee should I contact if I want to…?”

More active communication among our leadership, especially with our pastoral staff has also proven fruitful. It is not uncommon for a pastor, elder or ministry leader to schedule time during our meetings to address us collectively. From our perspective, this has often helped to eliminate the potential for misconceptions and misinformation. We welcome each of you, as members and congregants of this church to access the resources of the Board of Trustees.

Our ministry leaders are one of our most valued assets. We dedicate our service to serving them. Through their ministries, our incredibly gifted staff and our expanded campus, we continue to focus on spreading the Word of God throughout this community.

We ask you to keep BCC in your prayers. To sustain such growth requires a tremendous amount of time and effort. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the many people who have assisted us by unselfishly giving of their time and using the gifts God has given them. We are working hard to discover new ways to encourage our membership to get involved and assist in our areas of need. We implore you, as the membership of Bethlehem Community Church to support our ministries and to dedicate yourself to service within. “Many hands make light work”, and when the work involves other believers and servants of the Lord, you will be blessed.

For 2006, we expectantly look forward to continued growth, renewed faith, enlightened trust, saving of souls, expansion of God’s kingdom, spreading His word, and doing His will. Amen.
